Stuart Turner negative (universal) head pumps take away all the uncertainty and guess work when it comes to selecting the right water pump for your environment and needs because they are fully automatic.
They will operate in negative head and also in positive head environments and can be installed into an open vented cold and hot water system. Negative head pumps do not require a gravity flow of water to start.
Pump Pressure Rating Guide
The rating of pumps is measured in “bars” which is the measure of pressure. 1 bar pressure equates to 10 metres static head of water.
To get a good idea of the performance level of a particular pump, look for the bar rating. The higher the bar rating, the higher the performance level of the pump.
You can use the following bar ratings as a general guide to the performance level of a pump.
- 1 Bar Rating: Low boost.
- 1.5 to 2 Bar Rating: Medium boost.
- 3+ Bar Rating: High Boost.
